The Hovenring Bridge by IPV Delft Helps Reduce Traffic in Eindhoven

The Hovenring Bridge is at once a practical and creative way to separate different types of traffic at a tricky and busy intersection. Recently built in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, it hovers above the road like a hollowed UFO. Complete with a ring of LED lights, from a distance, it wouldn't be surprising if someone mistook it for the beginning of an alien invasion.

Dutch design firm IPV Delft designed the Hovenring Bridge. Measuring about 236 feet in diameter, it is held in place by cables that come from a tall support beam that resides in the center of the bridge. Made with cyclists in mind, the use of a lighted pathway ensures that they don't crash into each other during night rides.
