The house is structured around split levels that separate functions without fully enclosing them, allowing light and sightlines to travel vertically through the interior. Living, dining, and private areas are defined by subtle shifts in floor height rather than walls, creating continuity within a dense urban setting. Large openings and inset terraces introduce daylight and outdoor access at multiple points throughout the home.

A restrained material palette emphasizes calm and tactility, with wood surfaces, neutral finishes, and carefully proportioned openings shaping the atmosphere. Terraces act as extensions of interior rooms while also buffering the house from its surroundings. The project balances privacy with openness through its layered section, using vertical organization and controlled views to adapt residential space to a compact Tokyo site.
