The Moon House is a residential project in Sydney designed by James Garvan Architecture that explores curved geometry and spatial variation within a compact suburban site. The house is composed of stepped volumes that reinterpret familiar pitched roof forms through rounded profiles and layered massing. These curves shape both the exterior and interior, guiding light and movement through the home. Openings are carefully positioned to draw daylight deep into the plan while maintaining privacy from neighbouring properties, creating a balance between openness and enclosure.
Internally, the layout transitions between compressed and expansive spaces, with vaulted ceilings used in key living areas to enhance volume and light. Materials such as brick, glass, and timber are applied in a restrained palette that highlights texture and craftsmanship rather than surface decoration. Curved walls continue inside to soften circulation and reinforce the architectural language.
