Hong Kong International Airport recently unveiled a plan for self-service baggage kiosks that aim to save travelers time while reducing long lineups. "The Hong Kong Airport Authority signed a deal with Rockwell Collins to deploy 120 self-service bag drop systems at the airport in one of the largest such projects in the world."
Enhancing convenience, this service is one of many around the globe and follows in the footsteps of Melbourne Airport's recent introduction of an all-encompassing self service terminal. In addition to becoming more popular at airports, self-service kiosks and robotic employees are slowly replacing traditional hotel staff while promoting cost-effective and convenient travel options.
Hong Kong International Airport's practical baggage stations let travelers check in luggage and print out appropriate tags in a timely fashion. This means that they are no longer left worrying about long lines or more formal check-ins.
