Marriott Debuts a 36-Suite Hilltop Retreat in Laos

Heritage-inspired luxury resorts are combining cultural traditions with premium hospitality as Marriott International opens La Résidence Phou Vao in Luang Prabang, Laos. The 36-suite hilltop retreat preserves its original architecture and tropical surroundings while introducing redesigned interiors, locally inspired experiences and refined amenities that connect visitors with the destination's heritage.

Located above a UNESCO World Heritage town, the resort features accommodations decorated with handwoven textiles and rosewood accents. Guests can experience traditional Lao healing treatments at Mekong Spa, enjoy French cuisine featuring regional ingredients and participate in cultural activities such as Baci blessing ceremonies. A cliff-edge infinity pool overlooks the surrounding mountains.

For Marriott, the opening marks its first property in Laos and its 800th across Asia Pacific excluding China. The expansion strengthens its luxury portfolio while attracting travelers interested in culturally immersive accommodations and destination-specific experiences.
