'Kiron University' is set to launch an online program that helps migrants further their education. When refugees flee their homeland, they often find themselves without the certifications necessary to perform their work in a new country. This unique initiative provides a way for migrants to continue their education and gain meaningful employment.
Kiron University is a Berlin-based institution that gives refugees a chance to complete their degree. The university partnered with various international schools in order to create an online program that would help migrants continue their education. The first year of classes focuses on learning the language of their new country, while the second year involves choosing a specific degree program. Finally, third year students have the option to attend courses in person at participating universities. The program is completely free for migrants and all this is required is confirmation of their refugee status.
The unique program ultimately helps migrants access the higher education they need to establish themselves in their new home.
