A new maternity hospital in Taiwan has opened that will offer expecting mothers a calm, relaxing and incredibly cute Hello Kitty environment in which to deliver their children in. Considered to be the world's first themed hospital, all aspects of the patient care facilities are decked out in a Hello Kitty motif, "from blankets and birth certificates to cots and uniforms worn by the staff."
Implications - The featured video is completely in Japanese but shows off the various Hello Kitty items throughout the hospital. Tsai Tsung-chi is the hospital's doctor and the one who opened its expensive doors. The hospital cost £2 million pounds! The doctor says that he hopes Hello Kitty will be able to bring a smile to the patient's faces even if they are in pain.
