These sketchings by Brussels-based artist Hélène Jeudy offer a bizarre representation of the balance between the everyday and tormented. While some of the illustrations may appear as if they were drawn by amateur hands, a close inspection will reveal these to be the work of a skilled artist whose animations infuse the familiar and everyday with notions of torture and anguish.

Make no mistake, none of these images offer a comforting glimpse of homely reassurance. Gazing at this set of illustrations one learns to distrust any sense of repose that may be represented. Fluctuating between the demonic and the domesticate, these pictures blend two (supposedly) conflicting realms in order to create an environment that is at once both recognizable and terrifying.
