Taking advantage of the Halloween holiday, the HealthExpress Stoptober Campaign created quite the scare thanks to the use of a few disturbing masks. Yet these masks were not typical of Halloween. Instead of channeling Mike Myers, Obama or even more of a standard option, these masks channeled the look of an aged smoker.
Actors wore these masks, which were afflicted with diseases like mouth and throat cancers, macular degeneration, and periodontal disease, in order to drive home the message that smoking is detrimental to people's health. Although dramatic, the HealthExpress Stoptober Campaign is a great visual for those who live in denial about their addiction. It will be travelling throughout the United Kingdom, visiting cities known to have high smoking populations. Hopefully people turn a new leaf.
