One way of battling the spread of fake news in any category is looking toward verified experts—or even “healthcare influencers” in this case— that are able to share trustworthy facts in an efficient manner. Finland-based healthcare service Terveystalo is attempting to build and encourage this through its ‘Essential Influencers’ campaign which calls on social media platforms, specifically.
The initiative seeks to propel the popularity of the healthcare influencer as a means to share important and trusted information–especially during COVID-19. Terveystalo is emphasizing the need for a “verified” badge that is specifically intended for scientists, doctors, and public health officials.
The verified healthcare influencer might have strong implications and impacts for digitally savvy and native generations such as Millennials and Gen Z.
