Chef-Celebrating Doodles

Google Doodles Celebrated Historic Chef and Author Hannah Glasse

Google Doodles have become a long-running form of celebration for the company and the recent Hannah Glasse doodle is no exception to this. Hannah Glasse is perhaps best remembered as the woman behind classic British cuisine and is responsible for classics such as jelly and Yorkshire pudding. The Google Doodle celebrating Glasse was illustrated by Matthew Cruickshank and features Glasse baking a batch of Yorkshire puddings with the delicious steam spelling out "Google."

The Doodle is meant to celebrate the 310th birthday of Hannah Glasse, as well as her contributions to modern cooking. Glasse's cookbook, 'The Art of Cookery,' was first published in 1747 and is often noted as the book that brought cookery to the English masses. The 972-recipe book is noted for having conversational language, which makes many of the recipes simple and accessible.
