Integrated Garden Designs

Ludwig Godefroy Champions "Habitable Gardens" in Mexico

Mexico City-based architect Ludwig Godefroy is captivating attention with his stunning "habitable gardens." Most recently, he showcased this unique and innovative approach to architecture in four identical dwellings in Puerto Escondido, Mexico. The project embraces circular skylights and slanted ceilings, semi-exposed pools, and lush gardens. Through the aesthetic of the structures, Ludwig Godefroy seeks to pay homage to the tropical climate of the Pacific coast site. This is why the plant life is placed in the interior of the structure.

The architect establishes a strong and fluid connection to nature with the habitable gardens. This is evident in Hodefroy's claim that "the project blurs the border between in and out to become a singular habitable garden, where everything remains open all day and all night long."
