Moises Sánchez is an architect based in Guadalajara and the latest project to helm from the designer is the Tonalli House. It is located in Jocotepec, Jalisco right by Lake Chapala, and is defined by the cubic shape of the holiday home. However, there is a large tree that provides shade and was heavily taken into consideration throughout the design. It appears to be a solid white structure that is detailed with perforated purposeful openings.
Sánchez explains the design process and the main focus of the project, stating "The true protagonist of the project is a large tree and its relationship with the built environment. Its roots create a natural vestibule, serving as the entrance to the volume, the trunk and leaves act as a crowning feature in the views from the interior, while its form and shade simultaneously regulate the microclimate of the surroundings."
