Disney Princess-Inspired Portraits

Graw Creates Photorealistic Portraits of Disney Characters

Israel based DeviantART artist Karen Graw, who is also known as Avalonis, was inspired by one of the greatest pastimes of the Internet world: the re-imagination and the re-creation of Disney’s princesses in a different scenery, setting or context.

Inspired by the desire to inject something new to the Internet favored hobby, Graw has recently re-created Disney’s princesses in an entirely novel light. The result is the creation of a series of photo-realistic images of the different characters found in Disney’s movies.

“I wanted to look at the characters and think, ‘Hey, these people could exist. There’s some Disney doppelgangers running around the world.’ So I tried as much as possible to de-cartoonize them,” says Graw on the existing realizations and artistic renditions of Disney characters that are already circling the web.

Graw used a shocking amount of time rendering the images using face-on stills from Disney’s movies, coupled with a morphing algorithm program and Photoshop to achieve the exact dimensions of the facial features.

The portraits range from Rapunzel, Tiana, Esmeralda, Frollo, Mulan, Hercules, Pocahontas and many more - see if you can guess who’s who!
