Getting to sleep sooner along with reducing stress and anxiety are the goals of the new Gravity Blanket. Created by John Fiorentino, the Gravity Blanket is weighted to make users feel as if they were being hugged or held. The pressure helps promote the creation of serotonin which makes you feel happier and more relaxed, thus making it easier to fall asleep. The blanket can also be used to help calm down someone who is stressed out or anxious.
The Gravity Blanket is weighted at 10% of a person's body weight. It comes in three sizes: 15, 20 and 25 pounds. Fiorentino says that the blanket, while heavy, is still breathable and comfortable. The Gravity Blanket has hit Kickstarter for funding, amassing $441,000 in pledges (its initial goal was $21,500) with 32 days left in the campaign.
