The Gorillaz App is a Place to Become Immersed in the Group's New Album
Laura McQuarrie — April 15, 2017 — Tech
For the release of its newest album, Humanz, Gorillaz launched the Gorillaz app for Android and Apple devices.
The app is styled to look like the house that the Gorillaz—an animated musical group—are said to live in, complete with couches, band posters and plenty of decor. To view the Gorillaz house, app users are able to discover their surroundings by using their own smartphone camera.
Beyond serving as a storytelling tool to reveal more details about the personalities of the Gorillaz characters like Murdoc, 2D, Russel and Noodle, the Gorillaz app is set to be used to debut the Humanz album. Near the end of the month, those who have downloaded the app will receive an invitation to join a "virtual house party" via their phone for a unique listening experience.
