The Gola Table happens to look like many things: an open book, a black hole and even sinking sands. For some, it may even have a more risque look to it. Yet it is this dubious design that will suck people in as surely as quicksand would. The Gola Table takes a traditional piece of furniture and tweaks it to create something contemporary and unique.

Created by Italian designer Gianluca Sgalippa for furniture manufacturer Enzyma, the Gola Table features two asymmetrical wings made of bent wood. Through the intriguing use of a gradient colorway, in this case it goes from white to dark purple, the Gola Table does have a visually striking appearance that borders on optical illusion.
