Inspired by the Bohemian lifestyle, Glenn Barr's newest exhibit titled 'Rooms' depicts several aspiring artists as they struggle with the hardships of modern urban life.
These portraits are all based on modern-day Detroit and the citizens who struggle to revive the lethargic city. "Images of wandering bars and bohemian escapists, electric streets and closing time, space gear and boas, all the while unaffected muses look down from on high," writes Glenn Barr.
Each of the portraits features a different type of artist. One woman wears a feather boa and lingerie as she dances for the artist. A disheveled man carries around a giant boombox. A woman is depicted with an entire city resting on her head as if she cannot escape thinking about her cramped urban life.
Each of these portraits tells a story and delivers a bold message regarding art, urbanity and postmodernism. Glenn Barr has delivered another set of masterpieces.
