The glass animal and floral sculptural work of Ukrainian-born glass artist Nikita Drachuk displays an appreciation and understanding of the natural world.
Under his workshop 'Glass Symphony,' Drachuk is able to create vibrantly colored and delicate glass animals ranging from spiders, mice, scorpions and even octopi with an intricate attention to detail. To achieve his colofrul work, the artist uses a specific glass-blowing technique known as lampworking that involves colored glass rods, a gas blowtorch and some small hand tools.
Once the glass rods have been sufficiently softened with the heat from the torch, they can then be shaped and manipulated to create colorful glass figurines without the need for paint or decals of any kind. The end result is delicate interpretation of the surrounding world of nature around us.
