Photographer Jonas Hafner has created a collection of portraits that feature female faces engulfed with geometric shadows. The shadows are created by a light attempting to shine through a non-solid object.
The women in the images rarely look directly at the camera and they often have their eyes shut completely. The shadows that cascade across the subject's faces reveal both light and darkness. There are a few images that reflect a chain-link fence shadow while others reveal foliage-induced shadows.
The images share a story that these females are trapped within the shadows that they have created. The geometric shadows symbolize light and dark to evoke feelings of falsified happiness and the idea that these women are trapped within themselves. The women appear to be vaguely hidden behind imaginary objects that the audience cannot see.
