BBQ-Themed Research Labs

The GE SXSW Research Lab Boasts a 12 Foot Tall Brisket Smoker

The GE SXSW Research Lab is the latest interactive experience offered by General Electric at the Austin-based annual technology festival. The GE Barbecue Research Center boasts an enormous 12 foot brisket smoker that will emit real time data, which GE hopes to use to determine if science will play a role in the future of barbecuing.

The GE SXSW Research Lab will be on throughout the first weekend of the festival and will be serving up all of its barbecue with the help of local restaurateurs and celebrities like Questlove. Also on hand will be Spun Ice Cream, who will be putting on a demonstration on how to make liquid nitrogen ice cream.

The GE SXSW Research Lab will even feature neuroscience-powered helmets that display an individual's brainwaves so they can see how their brains react to different flavors of barbecue.
