Andy Ralph Creates Interest from Banality Through Garden Sculptures
Kyle Towers — February 21, 2013 — Art & Design
These sculptures by Andy Ralph are essentially a commentary on domestic suburban life in North America. This is a theme that Andy is familiar with as similar work of his has been featured here on Trend Hunter.
The pieces take the boring and mass produced staples of suburbia and completely distort them until they are no longer mainstream. I particularly love his work with these lawn chairs. He has taken each one and warped them into something eye-catching and interesting -- something that stands out.
The chairs may not be exactly functional, but they are certainly appealing to look at. I would much rather have these in my backyard than the old banal lawn chairs you can find in a majority of North American backyards.
