The Samsung Galaxy is one of the most popular phones in the world, and so the South Korean tech giant is looking to expand the model's appeal with the new Galaxy S8 Active. The Active is a spin off of the original Galaxy, offering much of the same hardware and functionality but housed within a tough, durable frame.
In terms of processing hardware, the Galaxy S8 Active is more or less identical to its more fragile cousin. It has a a Snapdragon 835 CPU, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage, with a 12-megapixel rear camera, and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. However, it packs those specs into a rugged frame that's shatter-, water-, and dust-resistant. According to Samsung, the Active can be submerged in five feet of water for 30 minutes or dropped from five feet up onto a flat surface and still function normally.
