Southwest Airlines Will Distribute Free Mileage Points for Car Rentals

Southwest Airlines will give out free mileage points to users who make their vehicles available for rentals, as well as users who rent a vehicle on the platform. The free mileage points are offered as 2,00 Rapid Rewards points for a user's first vehicle booking, and 500 Rapid Rewards points for every subsequent car rental. Users will also be able to get 10,000 Rapid Rewards points for signing up for the platform and then having another user book their vehicle for rental.

Southwest Airlines has engaged in similar ride-sharing programs before. In 2018, the airline partnered with Lyft to add allow customers to book rides through the Southwest app. However, the addition of points is a novel feature of this program.
