Surrealist Food Compositions

Paul Fuentes Recreates Popular Meals Using Everyday Objects

Mexican artist Paul Fuentes plays with the viewers perception of reality in his series of food compositions that recreate popular meals and items using a mix of produce as well as everyday objects. Both the food and everyday objects are seamlessly blended to recreate the other, offering a surrealist look at how consumers perceive the world around them.

The compositions are sculptural designs of items such as record players, sandwiches and skateboard ramps that are made using everyday objects as well as food to recreate a seemingly familiar scene and turn it unexpectedly unusual. For example, a hot dog is recreated using a real wiener, lettuce and tomato and a bun made from a sliced football.
