During her artist's residency with Wedgwood, creative Hitomi Hosono produced a collection of floral ceramics that have an impeccably exquisite appearance. The craftswoman takes cues and techniques from both British and Japanese culture.
The floral ceramics collection consists of bowls, vases and boxes. The ethereal botanical detailing definitely strikes a chord with the audience. Hitomi Hosono's pottery boasts "an unglazed matte finish [that is] typical of Wedgwood's signature Jasperware."
The artist consciously uses the botanical motifs as a tool to introduce a sense of nature to the Wedgwood brand. The decorative elements for the floral ceramics were derived from the company's archives — a habit that Hitomi Hosono cherishes as she finds inspiration in the "deep history [of] making art pieces."
