Emergency Inflatable Mats

The Fire Rescue Air Cushion is a Compact Self-Saving Device

In the event of an evacuation order, the Fire Rescue Air Cushion enables people to take control of their own safety, should assistance be ill-equipped or late arriving at the scene. These powerful red boxes are intended to be stored inside highrise buildings to help people who might be trapped several floors up and unable to escape down the stairs.

Designed by Ye Yiqing Shen, Hao Zhang Haoyu and Ruoqiong Wang, the gas-producing compartment in the base of the container is activated when it strikes the ground with force. The Fire Rescue Air Cushion proceeds to eject a giant blow-up mattress, inflate it fully and become a protective pad to soften the landing of people jumping from windows and balconies above.
