Festo is an industrial automation company that frequently looks to nature for inspiring ways to improve upon technology. One of its newest examples of biomimicry is the 'OctopusGripper' robot, which boasts tentacle-like arm that truly resembles the undersea creature it takes inspiration from. In addition to this, the arm also features a series of small suction cups, which are used to softly and securely grip objects, even if they have odd or irregular shapes.

As a whole, the OctopusGripper is designed to bend, flex and move just like a real, organic creature, while offering a wide range of uses when attached to Festo's BionicCobot or BionicMotionRobot, especially in collaborative settings.

Festo is also the innovative company that designed robots inspired by kangaroos, caterpillars, birds and elephants.
