Fermented Milk Factories

Remilk is Opening the Largest Alternative Milk Factory in the World

'Remilk,' the Israel-based alternative dairy company famous for its real animal-free milk, has announced it is developing a large-scale fermented milk factory in Denmark. The company states this factory will produce the annual milk equivalent of 50,000 cows on a dairy farm, making this the largest animal-free milk production factory in the world.

Remilk creates its animal-free milk through a process that it calls precision fermentation. Precision fermentation, as opposed to cell-culturing, does not require cows in any capacity. Instead, the company creates its milk substitute by growing dairy proteins.

This large-scale factory marks a large achievement for Remilk and its mission to subvert the traditional dairy industry. Remilk believes that, not only is the animal dairy industry ripe with ethical concerns, but it is also unsustainable, unsanitary, and outdated. The company seeks to act as a forerunner in the push toward sustainable, alternative dairy.
