Jamie Homeister, an artist based in Indiana, isn't the first person to create beautiful feather paintings. Yet he does so in a very meta way. Meaning, he happens to paint images of birds on his feathery canvases. Utterly striking in terms of not only details, but also coloring and texture, his feather paintings are something that can easily grace the halls of art galleries.
The feather paintings range in size and arrangement. Some are single while others are grouped together in different patterns. Homeister says, "Featherwork is an incredibly humbling media. The feathers splice, buckle, splinter and shred under the weight of paint. Layering them in my multi-feather formations is even more difficult to execute, as you have layers of light, airy, thinly threaded buoyancy.”
