The Famima Taste Famichiki celebrates FamilyMart's 45th anniversary with a limited-edition seasoning created to capture the retailer's brand identity. Available across approximately 16,400 stores in Japan, the release extends beyond the chain's signature boneless fried chicken to matching potato chips and puffed rice snacks. The flavor unfolds in three stages, beginning with citrusy yuzukosho, followed by a creamy mayonnaise-inspired note before finishing with a sweet-and-spicy ingredient the company has deliberately kept undisclosed. FamilyMart says the recipe required more than 111 development trials before reaching stores.
The launch also marks the 20th anniversary of Famichiki, which surpassed 2.6 billion cumulative sales in May 2026. FamilyMart creative director NIGO contributed to the flavor's development as part of the retailer's Next FamilyMart Project, which spans products, packaging, and customer experience. Customers can also participate in a promotional campaign by guessing the hidden ingredient for a chance to win digital prizes.
