The new Facebook Did You Know feature is a response to changes in the way that people use the service. The quirky little add-on asks users brief questions about themselves that they can answer and have displayed for friends on their profile, showing the efforts the social media titan is making to go back to its roots.
Though Facebook's user base is larger than ever, the way people engage with the platform has changed significantly since its inception. Where once people would frequently share text-only statuses, that type of personal sharing has migrated to platforms like Twitter and Snapchat, while Facebook is more frequently used for messaging and sharing news and video content. Did You Know seems to be an effort to bring personality back onto Facebook for the average user.
