The Exploding Chair is aptly named. It glows from within, giving it the appearance that it is about to explode, or simply frozen in time just before exploding. The surface of the Exploding Chair is made up of powder-coated iron discs that allow the built-in LED lighting to shine through.
Designed by Simone Micheli, the Exploding Chair can be better described as a bench. Stretching long enough to fit two to three people comfortably, the overall silhouette of the seat is roundish. The result is a sculptural design that enhances its surroundings in more ways than one. this sculptural aspect is enhanced by the use of different sized discs throughout.
Although made with the outdoors in mind, the Exploding Chair can easily be used indoors as well as both art and furniture.
