In another instance of esports gaining legitimacy and integrating more into traditional society, Becker College has recently announced its offering of an eSports Managment Degree. Structured as part of the college of business, courses leading to the degree will become available in the fall of 2019. According to the program announcement, the degree will focus on the business sector of eSports and will hopefully lead to careers in community management, game development, legal and accounting.
The rapid growth of eSports is bringing demand for more specialized skills within the industry. This is where the eSports Management Degree comes as it aims to provide students with the tools and expertise to excel in the eSports industry. Courses offered in the program include “Applied Business Statistics,” “eSports Planning and Strategy,” “Introduction to Psychology,” and "eSports Game Technology.”
