Reality-Defying Photography

Erik Johansson Returns with More Mind-Bending Photos

Looking at photographer Erik Johansson's work is like diving into a storybook. Each photo is so beautifully edited and constructed that it seems familiar, but there's always a twist.

For instance, a photo of hydro lines fading into the distance seems simple enough, but Johansson flawlessly adds an electric guitar with its strings blending into the hydro lines until you can't tell one from the other. Johansson explains that she enjoys capturing ideas instead of just moments. It's a simple strategy, but the effect is breathtaking. One photograph even shows a person holding another person standing knee-deep in a pond while holding a painting depicting sailboats on a calm sea. The sailboats, however, are drifting out of the painting, escaping. The photograph is aptly titled 'Set Them Free,' and is clearly a statement about art in general.

Through his photography, Erik Johansson has once again proven himself to be a visionary. Here's hoping viewers see a lot more of him in the future.
