Sculptured Paintings

Erica Mahinay Creates Mix-Mashed Meaningful Art

Erica Mahinay is a talented artist who likes to shake things up a bit. She mixes paintings with sculptures for an interesting eye-popping effect. The paintings really connect with the sculptures and vice-versa, as if they are one. I love how the works of art seem to be alive. You can physically touch part of the chandelier piece, while the other part of it is encapsulated inside the painting.

Erica Mahinay explains that her “painting-constructions utilize the familiarity of the home to explore notions of longing, displacement, inversion, truth, self-deception and perseverance.” Through her works, it is easy to see that the home is a center focus through chairs, decorations, tables and bedding. The visual play of Erica Mahinay’s is truly the work of a great artist.
