Appliance-Connecting Sensors

The Smappee Energy Monitor Gives Your Devices Connected Capabilities

This energy monitor uses your smartphone to control all your home's appliances remotely. From Belgium, Smappee itemizes usage of electricity in your house and retrofits appliances so they have Internet of Things abilities.

The smart home-enabling system also flags high-use appliances and patterns, which encourages you to cut down energy consumption while also saving on your electricity bill. A sensor is clamped to the main power cable so it can watch the household meter. The Smappee kit includes a Smappee Comfort Plug, which is app-controlled and lets users control their devices from far away. For example, if you forgot to turn off your oven, you can turn it off after you've left the house using your smartphone app.
