McCairn asserts that the antlers were shed over time by the elk in question. From that base she carved out this two-pronged structure, creating a fork-like statements piece that in many ways resonates with a tribal fashion sense.
The Antler Comb maintains many of its original elements as McCairn works to retain the original shape of each individual set of antlers. She strays away from applying pre-made patterns to her work, and it is for this reason that each set is markedly different.
