Luxurious Subterranean Villas

Eleni Lagkari Designs a Lavish Vacation Villa in Greece

Architect Eleni Lagkari, structural engineer Daidalos Engineering, and Agapakis & Associates have joined forces to create a magnificent subterranean villa in Greece.

This vacation house sits atop a steep terrain on the island of Antiparos. It is oriented towards the East, which offers an exceptional view of the nearby island of Paros. The home is built into the existing landscapes and embraces the land's rocky topography. The home is three-storied, a porch of which sits below ground.

The home was built using local stone and favors a distinct geometric aesthetic felt in the irregular edifice. The home is built primarily of plaster and rock - which preserves the traditional aesthetic of Cycladic architecture. A series of outdoor staircases connect the different levels and reinforces the relationship between the subterranean spaces and the outdoors.
