Esteem-Boosting Cartoons

Dove and Cartoon Network are Creating Videos to Support Youth Confidence

Dove Self-Esteem Project is an initiative that uses educational programs to promote confidence and self-worth, and its latest venture is happening between Dove and Cartoon Network.

The personal care brand is partnering with Cartoon Network’s animated series Steven Universe—the first of its kind on the channel to be created by a woman—to share conversations from characters on the show about bullying, confidence, acceptance and self-esteem.

The Dove Self-Esteem Project x Steven Universe: Appearance Related Teasing and Bullying video stars the antagonist Jasper and Amethyst, who is shorter than most characters in the series. When Jasper makes a remark about the stout character's height, Amethyst shares a positive message on self-acceptance, as well as the fact that cruel words often stem from a bully's own personal issues and insecurities, which quickly has Jasper changing her tune.
