Designer fire extinguishers have never been so inconspicuous. Seoul-based marketing group Cheil Worldwide — subsidiaries of the Samsung Corporation, have worked on a product that brings together the functionalities of the in-case-of-emergency tool and that of a mundane homeware object. The Firevase appears to be an ordinary bouquet holder, however, it is not. Aside from a space for flowers, the translucent red vessel also boasts an outer chamber filled with potassium carbonate. The innovation is an attempt at raising awareness of the importance of having flame-fighting tools accessible at all times.
If a fire is to erupt, one can grab the hybrid designer fire extinguisher and throw it toward the fire. When the vessel breaks, "the colorless liquid is released [and] it starts a rapid cooling reaction that suppresses oxygen" and ultimately stops the fire.
