MTV used to stand for Music Television, and Total Request Live (TRL) was the music countdown program that launched a thousand careers. Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears and N'Sync all got a big boost when they appeared on TRL, but now, TRL is no more. It's canceled.
The Executive Producer said it was time to move MTV to a different direction.
The final show will be a two hour special on Saturday in November.
Implications - Consumers are becoming more connected to the Internet every day. Products that utilize the world wide web appeal to shoppers who want to stay on top of trends. Companies could develop more items with this in mind.
