When Calvin and Hobbes is Reimagined as a Dark Thriller, Magic Happens

The hilarious folks at Gritty Reboots have truly outdone themselves with this trailer that re-imagines the classic Calvin and Hobbes comic strip as a dark thriller. I’m not be facetious when I say I would totally pay good money to see this movie, if only it were real. The premise is actually pretty fantastic. Calvin has grown older and gone to college, but his powers of imagination to create worlds hasn’t subsided. He still teams up with his best tiger friend Hobbes and goes on adventures in between his adult responsibilities.

The dark thriller part of things kicks in when Hobbes is lost to an alternate dimension and Calvin is forced into psychoanalysis for his perceived dementia and overactive imagination. Borrowing classic lines from the comics and mixing surprisingly excellent special effects for a fake trailer, this is one reboot that any Sunday strip fan would love to see get made.
