This Danish Astronaut is Bringing LEGO Minifigures to Space

The first Danish astronaut to go to space is bringing a team of tiny companions with him: 20 LEGO astronaut minifigures.

Andreas Mogensen, the first Danish astronaut in space, is going to the International Space Station and, in partnership with LEGO, is bringing a fleet of tiny astronauts along for the ride. The project is actually a campaign to educate children about the mission, orchestrated by LEGO and the European Space Agency. Mogensen will be tweeting about the mission using the LEGO minifigures as props and Europe's children will be asked to create videos about what they've learned about space. The 20 LEGO astronauts will be given away to the creators of the best videos upon Mogensen's return.

LEGO is a Danish company in origin, so it's fitting that the toy mega-brand has chosen to partner with the first Danish astronaut on his mission to space.
