Steam power isn't the first thing that comes to people's minds when thinking about high-speed personal vehicles, but the Cyclone-Williams Steam Engine packs a serious amount of horsepower for a technology so overlooked in recent years.

The Cyclone-Williams steam engine is a heat-regenerative external combustion device that that can function using a wide array of fuels and can also reach up to 160mph. Its designers hope it will clinch the world record for steam-powered land speed.

Implications - The Cyclone-Williams Steam engine can reach an unbelievable 160 miles per hour on any fuel that you put in the engine. The engine, which can be made to fit any car, could greatly reduce the dependence on foreign oil and help shift the economy towards renewal energy sources.
