Essence Workshop from Ruby Brown affords customers the chance to build their own custom scent from scratch using a combination of essential oils. Brown became interested in the complexities of perfume-making while working as an international fashion model. After training in France, Brown took her perfume-making knowledge to Montreal, where she opened Essence Workshop.

Customers start by identifying a preferred 'perfume profile' from the seven scent families, and then use an array of essential oils to create a unique custom scent to take home. Types of workshops on offer include the 'Made-to-Measure Perfume Workshop,' corporate events, and perfume bars that can be booked for weddings or other large private events. Customers' creations also stay on file with the company so that refills can be ordered after the initial bottle runs dry.
