Mission Barns and Silva Sausage Co. partnered to create the first-ever scaled-up manufacturing run of a product containing cultivated meat, specifically cultivated meat sausages. The Mission Chorizo Sausage blends Mission Fat and plant protein for a product that's made with real animal cells and not the animal. “We see it as the best of both worlds, where sustainability and deliciousness intersect,” says Eitan Fischer, CEO of Mission Barns.
The hybrid sausage is said to deliver on all the familiar qualities of sausage in terms of flavor and its ability to sizzle, and it reflects the future of cultivated food. Increasingly, people are finding themselves open to cultured meat as a viable way to address concerns about resource consumption and environmental pollution.
