The Khronos Group has created its first edition of OpenXR, which will allow for cross-platform VR apps. The platform would enable developers to build apps that would be able to run across different versions of VR and AR headsets. The Khronos Group has completed an experimental phone of the cross-platform VR app approximately a month ago, and the organization is presently ready to release its complete version.
Microsoft has notably made the OpenXR app available on its platform ahead of the app's launch. The company has expressed its excitement to work with OpenXR to enhance virtual reality capabilities. Facebook has also indicated that it will support OpenXR on its Rift and Quest headsets. HTC's VP, Binay Narayan, has also stated that HTC will also incorporate support for OpenXR.
