This cork furniture uses simple material and design to create some original and comfortable pieces of furniture. The series produced by Tony Grilo blurs the lines between form and function with this set of black cork-infused furniture.
Cork is a strange material, especially for furniture because really, who knows what cork actually does? We know that you find cork in wine and champagne bottles, but that is generally the extent of our cork-based knowledge. Tony Grilo has the jump on us when it comes to cork-based art as these pieces are made almost entirely of black cork.
The actual design of the furniture is not complex, as the design itself is unimportant in the face of the materials. The point of the series to highlight the usable properties of sustainable materials.
