Without a smartphone in hand, creations from Metaverse Makeovers looks like the kind of cool nail art that most people are familiar with. However, after applying the stick-on nail decals, a phone can be used to scan the nails and activate augmented reality animations.
The nail decals are embedded with holograms, so that when you look at them through the lens of a camera phone, there's bright graphics like disco balls, animals and skulls that appear to be having a party on your nails. Since these decals can be easily applied and removed, it's easy to swap out one design for another and have another augmented reality animation show up on screen. Since the company has roots in Shanghai, Hong Kong and Melbourne, these high-tech nail art accessories will be shown off at the Australian Center for Moving Image later this year.
